Arsenal’s Nicolas Pepe earns place in Europa League Team of the Week | World Soccer Fans

Pepe saves Arsenal

Nicolas Pepe hasn’t had the greatest time since his big-money move to Arsenal this past summer.

The ex-Lille man seemed to be struggling to adapt to English football, and has put in some rather sub-par displays this season.

However, Pepe would be Arsenal’s savior on Thursday evening.

The Gunners would find themselves 2-1 down vs Vitoria SC at the Emirates with around 10 minutes to go.

But Pepe would come off the bench and bag two sublime free-kicks to save Arsenal from an embarrassing defeat.

After his excellent substitute appearance on Thursday, Pepe has landed himself a place in this week’s Europa League Team of the Week.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace

Given the fact that Pepe only played around 15 minutes on Thursday, you would expect him to be starting on Sunday.

Unai Emery’s side will play host to Crystal Palace for their third game in less than a week.

Arsenal lost their last PL outing 1-0 vs Sheffield United on Monday evening.

The Gunners head into the weekend 5th in the English top-flight, but could move up to 3rd with a win over Palace.

However, should Arsenal lose, they could also drop all the way down to 11th in the table.

As for Crystal Palace, they sit 6th in the league, one point off Arsenal.
