Some Barcelona players have begun to lose confidence in Valverde – ESPN

Granada 2-Barcelona 0

Barcelona would travel to Granada for their 5th La Liga tie of the season on Saturday.

While Lionel Messi remained absent, Barca still had a pretty strong squad out that featured the likes of Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann.

Despite this, Barca would come away with a 2-0 defeat thanks to goals in the 2nd and 66th minute from Granada.

Saturday’s result meant Barcelona were down in 8th spot heading into Sunday’s games.

This season in La Liga, Barca have won just two of their five outings, drawing one and losing two.

After the Granada defeat Luis Suarez spoke out about Barca’s worrying display and finished by stating it will be a long and complicated year:

“It’s a worrying defeat, and one that hurts.

“We have to take a look at a lot of things and be self-critical in order to improve moving forward.

“We’re not thinking about last season when we were champions, it’s about analysing the now. Analysing why we’re not winning away, because it’s worrying us. Analysing the lack of chances.

“We have to accept that we’re obliged to win games and we’re not doing it. There’s a long way to go [in La Liga], but these are the type of games that can give you the league. It’s going to be a long, complicated year.” As quoted by ESPN.

Now, according to ESPN, a number of Barca players have begun to lose confidence in Ernesto Valverde following the La Liga Champion’s disappointing start to the season.

The report from ESPN also claims that part of the squad has been left disappointed with the side’s performances away from home this campaign.
