Arsenal held by Wolves

Arsenal played host to Wolves on Saturday afternoon.

Unai Emery’s side headed into the tie in fairly average form, having already dropped some valuable points this campaign against the likes of Watford and Crystal Palace.

The Gunners were also knocked out of the League Cup in midweek by a fairly week Liverpool side.

But things would get off to a positive start for the North London outfit at the Emirates with top-scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang putting them 1-0 up inside 21 minutes.

However, Raul Jimenez drew Nuno Santo’s side level in the 76th minute with the tie ending 1-1.

This meant Arsenal began Sunday three points off 4th place Leicester who were playing their game in hand vs Crystal Palace in the first PL clash of the day.

The Gunners are also six points off Chelsea, who sit 3rd after seeing off Watford on Saturday evening.

Emery’s job not immediately in danger

With Arsenal out of the League Cup and looking as though they may once again miss out on a top-four finish, Unai Emery’s position at Arsenal doesn’t look too stable.

Former Chelsea and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has also been linked with the job recently.

However, despite the dip in form and links with Mourinho, The Athletic have reported that Unai Emery’s job is not immediately in danger.

The people at the top of Arsenal are said to be frustrated with the recent set of results. But they believe they have a strong squad and the results will improve, as per The Athletic.
